Let me take you back to a lovely Fall evening in 1999. I was a sophomore at USU, our home teachers/neighbors had just paid us their monthly visit. As they left they looked into the sky and noticing the full moon said "hey do you guys want to go up to the "A" and become true Aggies tonight?" "Ha ha", we laughed, "sure come and pick us up before you go.." they left and we laughed again. At exactly 11:45 PM there was a knock on our door. It was the neighbors/home teachers. "Ready to go?" We look at each other horrified "are they serious?!" "No way!" I said. "Okay!" said my room mate (I love your guts Kalaka:) ) So off they went. I am pretty sure that I hurt the other guys feelings. Sorry, but there was no way I was wasting my first kiss on my random neighbor/home teacher, even to become a true Aggie. Days turned into weeks, turned into months, turned into years with no opportunity to go back to the "A". Suddenly it was May 2005 and I was graduating and lamenting the fact that I never did get the opportunity to become a true Aggie. Then, as if by fate Neil decided to come to USU for his Masters Degree. I think one of the first things I blurted out was "Yay! Now we can become true Aggies!" So on Friday night my wonderful husband and I headed up to the "A" to become true Aggies. See the picture below to see what this entails. When we arrived there were only like 3 other couples there so we ran over to the A so we could be the ones to stand on it. Two other couples joined us and we were eventually kicked off because the school had already chosen a "special" couple to stand on the A. Oh well, we were still touching it. Pretty soon there were like 300 couples all trying to get in on a piece of the action, we fended them off but they squished in pretty close. Poor Neil who hates hates hates large crowds commented "people are okay individually but when they get in big groups they just get wierd!" Needless to say we were both happy to get out of there once it was all over. This morning on the front page of the school paper was a picture of a couple who tried to squish us out of our spot. I was overhearing their conversation about how they are both freshman who dated in high school and he is going on a mission soon and she is going on one too...I told Neil and he responded "well, they sure weren't shy about filling up their canteens!" No. No they weren't. The End.
Here we are, sitting on the A. Funny story: We brought Chad and Corinne up to campus when they were visiting, as we drove by this spot I said offhandedly "this is where you can come and get kissed on the A to become a true Aggie" Chad looked a little confused/uncomfortable and said "you have to get kissed on the rear end to become a true Aggie?" Ha ha ha
Tomorrow Neil and I get to be in the USU homecoming parade! I am uber thrilled for this opportunity! I unfortunately do not get to dress up in a neat costume like the lady above, and I am not a beauty queen, but I do get to ride in a truck and wave and throw candy! Hooray!
So today I thought it would be fun to go back one year and just re post what I posted one year ago and see what has changed in my life. I went back to October 21st 2007 but there was nothing! What?! Then I remembered. Oh yeah, I was too busy doing this....
(Don't worry, we are not inviting this guy to the party )
Hello all Wilkey cousins- I told Brooke I would copy this to my blog to let you know whats up with the cousin Christmas party this year.
This post if for my Wilkey cousins. I've been asked by Amber to take over the cousin Christmas party this year. It will be at my house in Highland. December this year is really busy because of baby showers and weddings. Sat. Dec. 6th is the combined baby shower and then we could do the cousin party that evening(the adult christmas party is that evening also). Or we could do it the next weekend at like 11:00 am. The next weekend after that is my bro. Ryan's wedding. Are people really willing to be to family things 3 weekends in a row(I am)? Please let me know what would work best. *Ask your siblings for me also! So the evening of the 6th or 11:00 on the 13th?*
There you go, let Brooke know so she can start baking and buying food and presents for all of us:)
PS What was up with Jan on The Office last night? Weirdo! Also, I totally want one of those strollers that she was using! Does anyone know where I can buy one? This is NOT an announcement, I just need something to push my watermelon around in!
*UPDATE- I found out where you can buy these strollers, http://www.orbitbaby.com/products/ois.html and yes, they cost $900 dollars, dang it! But hey, I have a big family...how about if you all contribute $5? That should cover it! ha ha jk. Again, this is NOT an announcement, just thinking ahead.
PPS I think I like the name Selma, what do you think?

When I was on my mission in New Zealand I always got made fun of for saying "Fall" instead of "Autumn". Someone asked me once what this "Fall" nonsense was all about, I lamely replied "um, well, it's because it's when the leaves fall off the trees..." which is true, but does not make sense if you live in a place where leaves don't actually fall off of the trees. Anyhow. When Corinne and Chad (my way cute in-laws, please don't beat me up Corinne!) came to visit we went up the canyon to check out the Autumn/Fall leaves. It was rainy and beautiful!
We are totally using this for our 6 monthiversary announcement:)
I was tagged and since I don't get tagged very much anymore (probably because I don't follow through) I thought I would do it.
